Lions Champions of Change - White House

For nearly a century, Lions have worked to improve our communities and the world. Now, our work will be recognized at the White House during a special Champions of Change ceremony that closes out a day of administrative briefings on key issues.

On Oct. 2, Lions from around the world will visit the White House in Washington, D.C. for high-level briefings and discussions of community problems and service. Lions will also speak about their work during two panel discussions. Lions and Leos around the world can tune in for a live broadcast of the event, as well as follow the hashtag #WHLions on Twitter for updates. More information will be posted on the LCI Web site as it becomes available.

Wonthaggi Youth of the Year

The Club organises a Youth of the Year Quest each year.  The age range for participants is 16 to 19 years.

The Quest aims to encourage, foster and develop leadership in conjunction with other citizenship qualities in our youth, at the age when they are about to enter the fields of employment or higher education.  It provides participants with the skills needed to function as rounded members of the community, with opinions, passion and pride in themselves and their nation.

Qualities sought from applicants apart from academic attainment are those of leadership, personality, sportsmanship, public speaking and good citizenship.

Local winners progress to the national competition.
